How to keep your dogs healthy :)

10 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR DOG HEALTHY ALWAYS

From the very first day of their arrival into our homes, our dogs become as precious as our children. They no longer remain mere animals but become full-fledged family members. What makes this relationship unique is the fact that they are completely and irrevocably dependent on us. This makes it imperative that we do our best at all times and ensure that they lead healthy and happy lives. Before we delve into the ways you can take care, remember that what the internet tells you is not always true or correct. Always refer to and speak to your vet and groomer for any queries or doubts. Here are a few ways you can do this:

·       Giving the right kind of food: This changes with age as well the kind of breed that your dog is. Consult with us ( pet nutritionist) on all the permissible foods for dogs and also make a list of all things like raisins, nuts, chocolate, grapes that can be harmful for your dog. Food must be fresh, nutritious and well-balanced. Don’t entirely depend on kibble too much for there is no substitute whatsoever for freshly cooked home-made food. Even if you do feed them a lot of kibble, be aware of all the ingredients that go into it; beware of preservatives. Avoid human food as much as you can- this is important not only for health purposes but also for disciplinary purposes. Their needs are different from ours.
·       Lots of exercise: Young dogs especially need lots of exercise that helps to keep them fit and that heart pumping. If they don’t expend that boundless energy, it is only channelled towards aggression and destruction. Breeds like Labradors and Golden Retrievers are extremely energetic and need long walks everyday. Let the dog explore outside, it activates his senses and stimulates healthy brain activity. It gives you a chance to bond and get some exercise yourself.

·       Try to understand their body language: Every dog may be lacking a voice, but they manage to express all their needs and issues to us through signals from their body. It is up to us to understand and catch these signals. There may be sometimes a signal of underlying distress which may be a medical emergency. Watching and learning is the key to deepening the bond between you and your dog and to detect anything that may be wrong with them. Proper communication and understanding is massively important. You can also consult Kashika Arora the animal communicator.

·       Lots of mental stimulation: A bored dog is more prone to illnesses. Engage with your dog in various kinds of activities and games. Teach them different tricks and commands. Such engagement keeps them alert and mind buzzing.

·       Socialize with other dogs: It is important for your dog to meet and interact with its kind. It helps them to gain confidence and becomes an opportunity to learn their manners. Bring to events we organize parties , pool parties , fashion shows.

·       Visit your vet regularly: Dogs aren’t often very keen on vet visits, but they must be allowed to get used to the clinic, to being examined and being touched.

·       De-worming: It is crucial to de-worm your dog at the regular intervals and prevent them from catching any threatening illness.

·       Correct vaccinations: Only administer those vaccines to your dog that are actually relevant. Giving unnecessary vaccines only weakens their immune system and makes them prone to illnesses. Discuss this thoroughly with your vet right at the outset.

·       Proper grooming: The importance of grooming can never be stressed upon. It helps to keep away dry skin, fleas and ticks, ingrown nails, etc. Proper grooming helps them to have healthy skin and fur. We are the best in town for your grooming needs.

·       Enough water: We all know how vital it is to remain hydrated; the same goes for dogs as well. Make sure they have fresh, clean water available at all times. Keep their water and food bowls scrubbed clean always to maintain hygiene and stave off germs.
Thus, these are just a few ways by which you can work towards making your dog’s life long and healthy. Read lots of books on them, talk to other dog parents, vets, groomers, so as to learn more and more about dogs. There is absolutely no end to the amount you can learn about them everyday just by making a small effort.
