PET GROOMING OUR USP

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO GROOM YOUR PET DAILY?

The importance of daily grooming of dogs and cats is often taken lightly. Grooming isn’t only to make your pet look well kept and beautiful, but is also integral for their overall health.  Brushing your pet’s coat and its teeth will do them a whole lot of good in the long run!
Here are some ways by which grooming contributes to a healthy pet:
·       Brushing: The most intrinsic part of a dog or cat is one that first shows signs of any illness. For cats, the frequency of brushing depends on the length of their hair. Short-haired cats require a brush once a week, while long-haired cats require a brush daily to prevent matting that may turn painful. The same goes for dogs. It is important to consult your vet regarding the kind of brushes you need and the method to use them. Brushing helps to improve blood circulation to promote healthy hair growth, and to get rid of dead hair, dry skin, and grime.
·       Bathing: One must remember that bathing dogs too often might actually make their skin dry and rough. Bathe them only when they really need one, and be sure to use only a gentle dog shampoo. Cats on the other hand usually don’t need regular baths, notwithstanding the fact that they never enjoy them. Cats usually take care of grooming themselves, but if they get something sticky or dirty on them, a bath becomes necessary. Make the bathing experience as pleasant as possible for dogs and cats as many find it frightening. Offer treats and praise, and make the bathroom a positive environment for them. Proper bathing helps to keep the fur free from ticks, fleas and any other foreign particles that may cause skin irritation.
·       Nail trimming: The moment you hear the clicking on the floor, it is time to clip those nails. While dogs mostly take comfortably to nail clipping, cats are not as favourably disposed towards it. It is best to start clipping at a young age in order to make them accustomed to it and to fear the process less. Clipping their nails regularly prevents ingrown nails and any injury to their feet pads. Never try doing this at home and always take them to the groomer who will use proper tools to cut them.
·       Ear cleaning: The ears of both cats and dogs are immensely sensitive, so it is best to get it done by your groomer who will use professional and hygienic methods to do so. While bathing, remember to insert cotton balls in their ears. Dirt and wax accumulates in their ears over a period of time, and must be cleaned so as to prevent any sort of ear infection or pest infestation.

Grooming not only gives you a chance to interact with your furball closely and form a deep bond; but also to inspect their bodies and discover any small problems that may turn into bigger and more serious ones later. Keeping a close eye on your furball is key to their health. A close relationship with your groomer is also vital, for they are the ones who can guide you through the entire process properly.
